The Raleigh Regional
Association of REALTORS®’ Contemporary Real Estate
Council (CREC) recently heard the good and not so good news about the local
real estate industry.
RRAR Director Stacey Anfindsen, owner of S.M.A. Publications Inc. and a
North Carolina state certified residential real estate appraiser, presented
the latest market statistics and fielded questions from CREC members.
Here is summary of his presentation:
The Good
-
Annual closings were the sixth highest this decade g g.

Current supply of seven months is lower than national current supply of 11
months.

Average house price appreciation in TMLS has been 4 percent compared to the
national rate of -8.9 percent.

Houses 65 days which are priced correctly sell in an average of and sell
for 97.5% of list. Other houses sell in an average of 128 days and for
90% of final list.
The Ugly

23 consecutive months of lower pending sales p g consecutive months of lower
showings.

December 2008 expired listings were 194 percent higher than expired listings

December 2008 employed workforce was lower than the workforce for the first
