Success for women is topic of next WCR meeting
The Women’s Council of REALTORS® presents a seminar called “That Woman is a Success” on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at WCR’s monthly meeting. The session is from 8:45-10:15 a.m. at 111 Realtors Way in Cary.

The presenter is Billie Redmond, president and CEO of Trademark Properties. She is active in community and nonprofit organizations such as the Board of Directors of WakeMed Health & Hospitals, Paragon Commercial Bank, Raleigh Area Development Authority, Carolina Hurricanes Kids N Community Foundation and Triangle Community Foundation, and serves as co-chair of the Citizens Advisory Committee.

This seminar is part of WCR’s monthly meeting schedule and is open to WCR and Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® members and guests. There’s no fee for members to attend, but guests must pay $5. For more information, contact President-Elect Louise Griffin at (919) 796-3470.

Understanding IDX
If you’re a principal brokers of a firm or if you’re planning on starting your own firm, sign up now to learn about IDX. This is a program you need to understand so you won’t cause yourself or your agents undue grief.The IDX class, which is free of charge, shows you how to sign up for IDX and explains how it works in non-technical language. Classes run from 9:30-11 a.m. and are held in RRAR’s Room 119. Class dates are Oct. 8, Nov. 12 and Dec. 3. Register online for an IDX class . Course focuses on business planning fundamentals
A strong foundation is the key to building a successful real estate career. The Business Planning and Marketing (CRS 200) course offered by the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® provides that base by teaching the fundamentals of business planning.

The course, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 9-10, will cover business plan development, prospecting techniques, budget and cost analysis, and personal promotion techniques.

Register online Cost of the course is $300.

TCC hosts live interview
The Triangle Community Coalition’s (TCC) In the Know, which is now a live, real-time forum, features a talk with Wake County Commissioner Joe Bryan on Oct. 10 beginning at 9 a.m. The forum will take place at the offices of Paragon Commercial Bank at 3535 Glenwood Ave. in Raleigh. Real Estate Trends/OctoberFest set for Oct. 17
For the third year, the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® is joining forces with the Durham Regional Association of REALTORS® to co-host one of the premier educational events in the Triangle – 2008 Real Estate Trends/OctoberFest.

The event starts with breakfast and check in at 8:30 a.m. at the RRAR office and wraps up at 1 p.m. following lunch with vendors.

This year’s speakers are: Stacey Anfindsen, giving an update on market performance during the first three quarters of 2008; Ted Abernathy of the Research Triangle Institute speaking on the economic competitive position of the Triangle; and residential real estate expert John Ansbach who will talk about the current “state of the nation” as it relates to residential real estate.

Last year’s event drew more than 300 attendees, so plan to register early. The registration fee, which includes breakfast and lunch, is $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers before Oct. 14. The fee is $20 for both members and nonmembers after that date and at the door.
