Fonville Morisey Realty participates in Backpack Buddies Program

Neighbor Helping Neighbor

Backpack Buddies program provides healthy foods
When children head off to school, their backpacks are usually filled with books, notebook paper and pencils, and their stomachs are filled with good, healthy food, right? Not necessarily.

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle launched the Backpack Buddies program two years ago after hearing from dozens of area teachers and counselors that kids were coming to school on Mondays after eating nothing – or nothing healthy – all weekend. Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is trying to change that. The first year they routinely fed 500 children and now that number is up to more than 600.

Fonville Morisey Realty, a Long and Foster Company, is helping the cause to make a difference in these children's lives. For the next 12 months, each of the company's 12 sales offices will collect certain food items for distribution to hungry children through the  Backpack Buddies Program.

Anyone who wants to participate by making a donation can call any of the 12 Fonville Morisey offices to find out what food item is being collected for the week.
