New
Sign Ordinance takes affect in Cary
as of January 1, 2005
Cary, NC -The Town
of Cary has approved a pilot program called Sign Pilot Program (SPP), which
allows more signage for open houses. While this is a huge gain for REALTORSŪ,
it also comes with a huge responsibility. The Town of Cary will be monitoring
open house signs to make sure that they are not in violation of the SPP.
It is up to you, the REALTORŪ, to make sure you follow these rules or else
you will be fined. If there are excessive violations, the Town of Cary will
halt the SPP and resume the previous sign ordinance.
The Raleigh Regional Association
of REALTORSŪ wants to assist you in learning more about these guidelines.
We will be hosting informational/training sessions on this topic for all agents
beginning January 5. The classes will be every Wednesday at 9:00AM through
February 16 at 111 Realtors Way in Cary. It is imperative that all of our members be well versed in the
new regulations. Please mark the following dates on your calendar:
January 5 January
19 February 2 February 16
January 12
January 26 February 9
We have an opportunity to show
the Town that REALTORSŪ are responsible members of the business community,
and can abide by the new rules on signage. Many of our members have
been involved in testifying before the Town Council regarding the modification
of the sign ordinance, and have promised compliance by REALTORSŪ.
If you have any questions about these seminars or would like to learn more
about the new ordinance, please call Tara Lightner at 919-654-5400.
