R. GILLIAM KITTRELL
NAMED 2002 REALTOR®OF THE YEAR BY RALEIGH REGIONAL ASSOCIATION OF
REALTORS®

R. Gilliam Kittrell, was named the 2002 REALTOR-of-the-Year on January 27, 2003.
The prestigious award was presented by Prudential Carolinas Realty REALTOR®,
Charles Parker Creech, the recipient of the 2001 award, on behalf of the membership
of the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS®, during the Association’s Inaugural
Ball and Installation of Officers.
A REALTOR® and member of the
Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® since 1983, Kittrell has served the
following positions within the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS®
Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and President. He has chaired the
Political Action Committee, Grievance Committee, Professional Standards
Committee, By-Laws Committee, and has served on many others. He also
currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Triangle Multiple Listing
Services, Inc.
Kittrell and partner, Joe L.
Hodge, Jr. formed Hodge and Kittrell REALTORS® in 1987. Hodge and Kittrell have
37 sales agents and is one of the Triangle’s top 10 real estate sales firms.
Prior to his move, Kittrell was a REALTOR® with Simpson Underwood, from
1980-1987.
Kittrell devotes much of his
time to his church, Christ Episcopal Church in Raleigh, and has chaired the Men
of Christ Church Committee, Spring Swing Golf Tournament, and the Finance
Committee. He also served as a Sunday School Teacher and has assisted on
other committees, including Stewardship and Housing.
Kittrell has also served as
President, Treasurer, and Director for Arts Together, a non-profit community
arts school with a unique teaching philosophy that emphasizes personal
creativity and expression. In addition, Kittrell has chaired the Ways and Means
and the Long Range Planning Committees.
In his spare time, Kittrell
has volunteered as a Coach in the Capital Area Soccer League, and in the
Salvation Army Soccer, Basketball, and T-Ball Leagues. He is an avid fisherman
and also enjoys tennis for recreation. Kittrell resides in Raleigh with
his wife of 16 years, Meredith, and their children, Bennett, age 13, and Robert,
Age 11.
The REALTOR®-of-the-Year
Award was initiated in 1955, and all recipients are named on the Bradshaw Cup,
donated by Charles W. Bradshaw of Raleigh, a long time leader in the real estate
community. The Award is given annually to a member of the Association who has
demonstrated a history of exemplary leadership within the real estate profession
and community.
