REALTORS® Make $10 Million Commitment
The NC Association of REALTORS® has made a $10 million
commitment to continue its statewide efforts to protect private property
rights and housing affordability. The Association’s 160-member
board of directors on Tuesday approved a long-term plan to direct association
dollars into a special advocacy fund designed to educate the public on
keys issues. “Several issues are on the front burner – coastal
stormwater rules, steep slope ordinances, a proposed tax on services
and the land transfer tax,” said Tim Kent, NC REALTORS® Executive
Vice President. “Because of the visionary action taken by
our leadership on Tuesday, REALTORS® will be able to educate the
public about these issues and their negative impact on homeowners and
private property rights in North Carolina.”

http://www.ncrealtors.org/en/IMpressrelease061108.pdf
In an effort to provide as much information as possible regarding how
the issue fund will affect REALTORS®, there will
be a special meeting for Brokers, Owners and Managers on July 10th at 9:00am
at One Eleven Place. Staff will provide a full account of the
process, explain the needs, answer questions and provide materials
to help BICs share the news with their agents. |

Tempo
5 Update
Tempo 5 has now been available for a little over a month and the focus continues
to be on training. There is a steep learning curve in mastering this powerful
system. The Tempo 5 Basic class will be offered once a week through July. For
those who have mastered the basics advanced classes are available that pin
point specific functionality; Searching, Prospecting, Add/Edit and CMA Manager.
A full time trainer will available on-staff with Triangle MLS staff beginning
in July. More information on this new resource will be available in the
next weeks.
The system is stable with a couple of outstanding issues; some photos resize
themselves and some agent cell phone numbers are not appearing in the Tempo
Member Info profile. A number of enhancements have been submitted for development
(i.e. addition of Contingent and Temp-Off-Market listings to the Inventory
Watch). Please contact the Help Desk support@trianglemls.com with
questions or problems.
The Women's Council of REALTORS®: empowers women to reach for their potential

Vann Langston, Executive Director
High Five Regional Partnership
www.TriangleHighFive.org
"Graduating All Our Triangle Students Ready for the Global Economy by
2013: Where We Are Now and How TICOR Can Help Us Get There”
Vann Langston grew up in Henderson, North Carolina. Upon graduating from Henderson
High School in the Class of 63, he graduated from Duke University and later
from UNC-Chapel Hill in educational administration.
Vann has served as a teacher, an assistant principal, middle school principal
at West Millbrook and high school principal at Millbrook and assistant superintendent
in Wake and Johnston counties. During the early 1990’s, he served as
the staff consultant for high schools for the NC Department of Public Instruction.
After retiring once, he worked at the NC School Boards Association training
the 800 school board members across the state.
In 2004 he accepted the title of Executive Director of High Five Regional Partnership
for High School Excellence which serves five Triangle school districts including
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, Durham Public Schools, Johnston County Schools,
Orange County Schools and Wake County Public School System. In this effort,
sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC Foundation, Capitol Broadcasting/Fletcher
Foundation, News & Observer, Progress Energy and SAS, the 45 high
schools are working to solve the dropout problem which plagues us all. Today
we will learn more about the serious costs of dropouts in America and how we
might solve the problem. To that end, High Five has a goal of no dropouts by
the class of 2013. The students in that class are enrolled in the seventh grade. We
will also learn about how we must challenge our highest achievers so they can
continue to lead the world in creativity and invention.
This work requires a systemic change in the culture, structure and climate
of our schools, school systems and even our community. That systemic
change in our schools is called Professional Learning Communities. That change
in our communities ought to be called “teamwork to make America more
competitive in a flat world.”

you are a Principal Broker of a firm, or if you are planning to start your
own firm, sign up for our IDX class. Principals’ assistants are welcome. This
is your program and you need to understand it. You need to put yourself in

your agents undue grief by not knowing what IDX is all about. The class is
free and lasts about 1 to 1-1/2 hours. We will show you how to sign up for
IDX and will explain it in language that you will understand. This is not

Teddy
Bears On Patrol
NC CRS is excited to announce our “Chapter With A Heart” program
for 2008.
OBJECTIVE: To place small
teddy bears with the NC Highway Patrol and Law Enforcement so that they will
be able to distribute them to children involved in accidents or traumatic
events.IMPLEMENTATION: Each NCAR convention attendee would purchase a new,
small teddy bear and bring it with them to the NCAR 2008 Convention in Charlotte. The
Bears will be collected at the CRS booth. At the NCCRS General Membership
Meeting, the NC Highway Patrol Colonel will be presented with the bears collected.
The mountain of bears collected for the “Teddy Bears on Patrol” program
will then be on display at the NCAR Opening Session as a way of saying “thank
you” to all of those who participated. IDEA: Individual
troopers and law enforcement will be able to place bears in their cars for
distribution where young children are involved. We ask for your support
by purchasing a new small teddy bear and making sure that little bear makes
its way to the NCAR Convention in Charlotte to be held October 5-8, 2008.
