Raleigh
Regional Association of REALTORS® Endorse Wake County Public School Bond
CARY, N.C.
– In a clear show of support and commitment to Wake County and the community
in general, the REALTORS® ofWake
County have clearly put their name and their money
behind the Wake County Public School System. In June, the Board of Directors
of the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® (RRAR) voted to endorse the
Wake County
Public School bond of approximately $970 million.
The REALTORS® Association also has a representative on the Friends of Wake
County Steering committee and fundraising committee.
“Strong, healthy, successful schools
are such a critical part of the fabric of Wake County,” explained Carolyn Kasdorf, the
2006 REALTORS® Association President, “that supporting the bond was never
an issue. Our school board, the County
Commissioners and the teachers make this an exceptional
school system, and keeping it going and improving, is vital for everyone,
not just families with school aged children.”
The RRAR voted at it’s August 9th
Board meeting to approve $25,000 toward the Friends of Wake County bond campaign;
a joint effort of the Greater Raleigh Chamber, the Wake County School Board,
the county commissioners and the business community, aimed at passage of the
November bond package.
In addition to the contribution
made by the RRAR, various real estate companies have also contributed raising
the REALTOR® contribution levels to $33,000. “Schools are one of the first
things that potential homebuyers ask about,” explains Laurie Donofrio, former
teacher and REALTOR® with REMAX United, “and if your clients aren’t satisfied
that the schools are up to par, they will choose other locations.”
