Serving the
hungry
On
July 15, RRAR’s Community Service Committee served more than
300 meals at The Shepherd’s Table Soup Kitchen. Men and women
of all ages formed a long line outside the Church of the Good Shepherd
in anticipation of a break from the heat, a hearty meal and a welcoming
atmosphere.
The Shepherd’s
Table serves a nourishing hot mid-day meal to anyone who walks through
their doors, no questions asked. Everyone is welcomed without regard
to employment status, race, sex, age, color, national origin, religious
preference, handicap or income. It takes 200 volunteers and about
125,000 pounds of food each year to feed the hungry at The Shepherd's
Table.
In addition to serving
lunch in July, RRAR donated $500 to help the cause of hunger and looks
forward to a continued partnership throughout the year.
